Josh Cheon

Visiting Artist: Josh Cheon, founder of Dark Entries Records (based in SF)  and DJ / with Honey Soundsystem. Through its near 16-year history, Dark Entries has established itself as a label for lovers of dark-edged, brooding or idiosyncratic sounds that were born during or take influence from the ‘80s, delivering releases from influential artists that exist on the outskirts of electronic music. Honey Soundsystem  is a collective of disc jockeys, musicians, performers and designers, formed in January 2006, after seeing severe gaps in San Francisco nightlife. They were inspired by pivotal gay underground parties, who offered a take on dance music in direct opposition to what was blaring on mainstream club speakers.

John Bischoff

John Bischoff (b. 1949, San Francisco) is an early pioneer of live computer music. He is known for his solo constructions in real-time synthesis as well as the development of computer network music. His recent performances combine hands-on analog circuitry and digital synthesis in open dialog. Sonic attributes in one domain inform music unfolding in the other. The ebb and flow of discontinuity in these systems spontaneously generates form. He has been active in the experimental music scene in the Bay Area for over 40 years as a composer, performer, and teacher.
