Offering innovative continuing education arts courses designed to meet the needs of both emerging artists and lifelong learners.
Rooted in graduate major lessons and extensive performance opportunities, the MFA African Music and Dance Program provides students with the abilities and means to become accomplished performers, and features classes in theory, transcription and analysis. Students are inspired to weave African music and sensibilities into all their musical endeavors.
Many CalArts students typically join various African Music and Dance ensembles, and some have the opportunity to continue, post-studies, with an alumni professional group, Volta Drum Dance.
