Kayle began his gamelan studies during his studies for his Bachelor's in Composition from California Institute of the Arts. He has studied various Balinese and Javanese gamelan ensemble typings such as gambuh, gender wayang, courtly Javanese gamelan gedhe, gadhon, and so on. While he has furthered his studies in Bali, his primary teachers are master artists I Nyoman Wenten from the village of Sading, and Djoko Walujo from Surakarta. He performs with most groups in the greater LA area, including Burat Wangi, Bhuwana Kumala, Merdu Kumala, Kyai Doro Dasih, and so on. As well, he assists in teaching and performing for most school groups in the same area. He has taught as a teaching artist with the Center For World Music at Canyon Crest Academy, and at California State Summer School for the Arts as a teaching assistant.
Away from gamelan, Kayle works in post-production sound for film and games. Currently, his emphasis includes re-recording mixing and dialogue editing, having a focus on documentaries in film (e.g. Two Sides of Survival, Hidden Vote, Dons of Disco), and in games of focus on AAA titles (e.g. League of Legends, Ori: Will of the Wisps, Borderlands 3).
