Justin Asher

Justin Asher will workshop with the students of the class the theme of voice and embodiment through a podcast workshop.

Justin Asher is a Los Angeles based composer, sound designer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He’s currently designing sound for the Webby and Image winning podcast Levar Burton Reads and was the audio producer for the Emmy nominated documentary Con Safos, as well as composer for the silent feature film What?. As a tech-centric creator across most sound producing media he's currently focusing on immersive 3D audio and web-based narrative, music and documentary.

His work has appeared on programs for ABC, CBS, A&E, MTV, NPR; in films by Boss Witch, Hasbro, and MGM; at the ATP festival Minehead UK, the Center for Living Arts Mobile AL, Harrison House, ICA LA, Joshua Tree, Machine Project LA, Pacific Standard Time LA, REDCAT, Shanghai Jazz Festival, STEIM institute Netherlands, and the Wulf LA. He’s produced records for labels Astralworks, A Wave Press, Bongo Beat, Crammed, Island/Def Jam, Koch, Knitting Factory, Munich, Pan, pfMENTUM, Setola di Maiale, Shanacie, and Touch And Go. He’s produced audio for Podcasts on the SiriusXM/Stitcher/Earwolf, and Freakonomics networks, and recorded interactive audio for Activision, Eidos, Fantasy Lab, Microsoft, NCSoft, Ubisoft.
