AUROGENY
Ben Richter's final DMA performance presents a series of accordion compositions exploring new terrain for the instrument—timbral and spectral fluctuations, microtonal detuning, shadow pitch, respiratory patterns—inspired by nonhuman worlds: slime mold intelligence, quantum foam susurrations, arboreal communication networks, Carboniferous insect evolution, geologic, and cosmic time scales. Accompanied by original video art by Lei Han and Sam Wells, the event also features remotely coordinated ensemble work with performances by Alex Buck, Jack Dettling, Ulrich Krieger, and Alkis Nicolaides
