ZADONU
African Music Dedicated to teaching and preserving authentic African performing arts and culture.
| Zadonu was founded by Kobla Ladzekpo and his wife, Dzidzorgbe Beatrice Lawluvi, African born master artists prominently ranked among the finest in Ghana. They have been performing and teaching internationally throughout their careers, working regularly with universities and large concert venues. | They have been faculty members of such prestigious schools as UCLA and the Naropa Institute, while serving for more than 25 years on the faculty of the California Institute of the Arts, where Kobla chaired the world music department for many years. |
Offering workshops, seminars, and stage performances throughout the world, Zadonu is designed specifically for the diverse environment we live in today. Among Zadonu's primary goals each year is to bring together various African cultural groups under one roof in a majestic festival of art and performance in Los Angeles. |
| Zadonu has performed for the President of Ghana, with such prestigious guests as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Isaac Hayes, and has also made a special appearance with Fleetwood Mac at the NFL Superbowl XXVIII tailgate party. | The Zadonu name is a combination of the names of director Kobla Ladzekpo's late father and brother, well respected composers and drummers of the Anlo clan. |
