Catherine Lamb is a composer currently residing in Los Angeles. Recently, her work involves the use of just ratios or slowly stretching and compressing intervals in order to enmesh atmoshperic color with performed sound, while examining intimate situations between musicians. She is interested in concentrated openings of sound worlds and sculptural spaces. She has studied extensively with composers James Tenney, Michael Pisaro, and Dhrupad musician Mani Kaul as well as with composers Jürg Frey, Stephen "Lucky" Mosko, and Christian Wolff. She is currently working on a piece Dilations involving nine musicians to be premiered at the 2009 Other Minds Festival in San Francisco with a commission from the Herman-Gerbode Foundation.
