the haunting choreography of hellen skys' telematic duet with the idiosyncratic louise taube is accompanied by the electroacoustic music of garth paine, enhancing a rich sonic characterisation. with hellen in hong kong and louise in melbourne, they are joined through isdn link, their bodies merging in the virtual fourth dimension. the rich animation environments of marshal white and camera choreography of luke pither and kelli dipple are orchestrated in real time by emmersive computer designer john mccormick and illuminated by nik pajanti.

escape velocity is part of dare to dream arts rave the electronic media-based art exhibition of the hong kong star alliance city festival 2000.
dare to dream aims to evoke thoughts about ideologies and subconscious longings at the turn of the century. curated by sikay tang, original concept by jeremy akerman and zorica vasic.
³to escape from the binds of the human condition has always been a dream of human kind. the search for the elixer of youth, the fountain of knowledge, has been transformed by the aspirations of technology, cloning and cybertronics. the virtual body is free to exist in the fourth dimension, in this dimension what role does time play? where does our memory of past and present rest? and how heavy is a thought?²

sometime in the near future* john mccormicks project, home not alone, will be launched on the internet. this is an interactive web-tv amalgam. the viewer will be able to construct their own video clip including video, audio and text, and have it play out on tv or streamed over the internet for others to view. in home, not alone you will be able to view and interact with three diverse characters who inhabit a fictitious city, and through interaction you can see three separate perspectives of city life. this has been made with the support of RMIT, and AFC.

explores the potential of communication technologies to access new pathways between image, sound and the human body. their work aims to take dance to the forefront of contemporary artistic developments.
the company seeks to challenge and contribute to the arts and society through the exploration of interfaces between cultures, viewed through the technology which defines and separates them. the new artistic forms of expression forged during this process of discovery have the potential to unite disparate individuals across the world in a shared creative experience.
the provocative works create dialogues between our visual, aural and kinetic perceptions and will be able to exist in a number of media; live performance, installations, video and interactive virtual spaces, accessed from anywhere in the world.
