Taking place within the Arts District of Downtown Long Beach, SoundWalk is an
annual art event, produced by the Long Beach artist group, FLOOD. Sound installations
placed throughout the area, indoors and outdoors, will encompass a wide range of work
that will integrate visual and aural elements. Included will be sculptures, environments,
performances and installations, both interactive and passive. It is the variety of work that
makes this event memorable for all who participate as well as for those who attend.
The fifth annual Soundwalk will take place Saturday, September 20th in Long Beach, CA.
A version of my laptop installation Bridge will be exhibited using three laptops. | |

Sound in Space will traverse diversity by presenting cross sections of the local sound art community. From sound installation to Fluxus note card pieces
and field recordings to live ambient music, the topography of the musical fringe is as varied as the community is geographically dispersed.
This is a program for the community by artists in the community. Every performance is free with an aim to urge active collaboration and exchange between artists
and audiences. While the sea and space are the dark unknowns, they don't have to be unknowable. Sound in Space are vehicles with which the community is
invited to navigate and explore art that has been termed "experimental," or "conceptual;" loose terms that create a barrier rather than extend a hand.
I had the original idea for this festival but none of it would have happend without Lara Bank and Aaron Drake. The three of us have organized 13 concerts and 12 installations for the month of February. Check out the Sound in Space website for all of the details. |

Mario's Furniture |
|
TELIC Arts Exchange is pleased to present Mario's Furniture 2, an installation and interactive game.
Created by artists Hillary Mushkin and S.E. Barnet, the project integrates wireless technology with artistic
production and performance. In most video games you just sit on the couch, but when you play Mario's Furniture 2 you
MOVE the couch, in fact you move the whole living room! Mario's Furniture began in 2002 as a video installation, including a single
night of performance. Four years later, Mario's Furniture 2 - created with programmer Clay Chaplin and electronic
specialist Lorin Parker - is now a wireless environment where viewers become players, physically moving objects before
a relentlessly panning camera, all the while watching themselves and their scores in real time on a large-screen projection.
