Bob Clendenen Short Bio
Bob Clendenen's Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy strives to illuminate, develop, and diversify the
student's thought process in relation to music composition, performance, and
presentation/production. I present a broad information base touching on all the
major musical styles, their similarities and differences, and ways to effectively
represent and produce each style. This includes a thorough introduction to
concert management and technology (sound, lights, etc.). As a composer and
performer I am committed to music by living artists and teach each student to
find their voice. This includes identifying the properties of their inner voice
(including historical context) and the psychological gesture/intent inherent in
their own expression. I teach ways to think structurally about expression so the
student can consciously and unconsciously work on their art in a productive and
holistic fashion, integrating development with effective performances and
recordings.
