Adam is an electronic musician and perpetual student of sound. He began producing electronic music in 1998 with the psychedelic trance act Fungus Amungus and the experimental noise trio Whack Ass Duo. He studied music technology at the University of Michigan and CalArts, duing which time he wrote and performed electroacoustic music, instrumental music, soundtracks, and Javanese Gamelan. Also during this time he co-founded the drone project The Sweat Shop Boys with Sean Price and became a member of the noise act the Dog of Tears Orchestra led by David Cohen. His instruments of choice are analog modular synthesizer and custom software.
Currently Adam is focused on drone and ambient music, and is constantly refining his relationship to sound. He is also pursuing further studies into the essence of sound and has delved deeply into the field of computer science to enhace his ability to explore new sonic possibilites to the fullest extent. In 2009 he will attend the Music, Science, and Technology graduate program at Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics.
Though he emerged from an academic and conceptual art environment Adam maintains no connection with any particular school of thought. He wishes to dispel any perceived stigma of pedigree or elitism with respect to musical aesthetics. To him, the experience of listening is more visceral than cerebral, and his music is completely indulgent in its effort to reach for the sublime.
