The Jazz Studies Program is widely noted for its distinguished faculty, successful alumni and awardwinning students. This challenging program helps students to develop as performers, improvisers and composers through courses of study that integrate jazz with other musical traditions and the latest innovations in contemporary music. The Jazz Studies Program emphasizes small ensemble performance and improvisation, and offers exceptional performance opportunities as well as the opportunity to work with and observe worldclass guest artists on a regular basis.
The curriculum centers on classes in jazz improvisation, composition, performance, history, theory, ear training, and transcription, and offers additional course options through other programmatic areas.
