  Ensembles:
African and African-American Improvisational Music Practice
 
 

Traditional, Contemporary and Experimental Ensemble

A creative ensemble dedicated to the composing and performance of students works in the traditional, contemporary and experimental forms of creative music. students are giving two composition assignments developing two different idioms of musical activity to be rehearsed and performed during the semester.


Advanced Improvisational Ensemble

An ensemble dedicated to the performance and study of systemic musics, learning a new language of symbology scoring using color and design construction, extended creative performance techniques with an introduction to the psychology of music; and music, sound and sensation.


Music Technology Ensemble

An ensemble researching the interactive languages and the improvisational forum of live music activity with a major philosophical focus on music technology and interactive improvisational music.

All three ensembles (Traditional, Advanced Improvisational, and Music Technology) will place special concentrates on the laws and principles of ensemble practice.

* Permission of instructor required for all ensemble units.
